Around 1900, Medardo Rosso revolutionized sculpture and had a remarkable influence on both his contemporaries and later generations. Yet he remains relatively little known, something this exhibition seeks to change. Developed in collaboration with mumok Vienna, the exhibition presents Rosso’s works in dialogue with those of artists from his time and beyond, reflecting Rosso’s conviction that his sculptures must be experienced in relation to others. The exhibition design follows this idea: island-like displays bring different works together on a shared plane, creating a deliberate sense of community among the objects. At the same time, the architecture emphasizes controlled sightlines and defined vantage points, an approach central to Rosso, who sought to guide perception and shape the viewing experience through precise framing.
